1.8 Meeting the Descendants

This is a longer chapter! Towards the end it's just a bunch of little scenes between Athena and her descendants. Plus some little scenes with Levi. Enjoy!

Athena and Levi boarded this futuristic hover monorail and headed towards the Gray household. Athena tried to fill Levi in on the situation but somehow Emit beat her to it. How he knew it all, was a mystery. That's time travel for ya. The ride was silent, though Levi seemed like a talkative man. Every here and there he'd point out something that Athena had never seen before.

The two arrived at the scene at the same time that one of Athena's descendants were coming home. The house was made out of wood, the complete opposite of Emit's high tech home base.

Athena: So, why is Emit's house so huge and high tech and this one looks like it could be from my time?

Levi: They're probably poor. They're forced to use old technology and resources because the newer gadgets are too expensive.

Athena: Well there's nothing wrong with that. If something isn't broken, you shouldn't fix it.

Levi: I'm sure they'd like to upgrade.

Athena was about to say something when she was interrupted by a pink haired man.

                             Pink: Who are you guys?

Athena was too shocked to say anything.

Levi: Is this the Gray household?

                             Pink: Yes it is.

Levi: We've been looking for you for awhile.

Pink: This feels like a story, why don't you come inside?

Athena nudged Levi.

                                Athena: Let me handle this.

Pink: I'm Emil Gray. Who are you guys?

Athena: I'm Athena Gray and that guy over there is Levi.

                                 Emil: Athena Gray?

Athena: Yes, I'm your family from the past.

Emil didn't laugh or yell at her like she thought he would.

Instead, he hugged her.

                                Athena: You...you believe me?

Emil: I've heard stories about sims traveling through time and meeting their descendants. I'd just never thought it would happen to us.  You look just like Megan, but with longer hair. You're welcome in our house whenever you want. I'm sorry about the state of it.

Athena: I like your house. It's quaint, it reminds me of my home. All of that technology could get overwhelming.

Emil: You guys must be starving. Why don't you sit down, I'll make us some food.

As soon as Athena stepped into the kitchen she noticed a stove similar to her own.

Athena: Would you mind if I cooked the food? I haven't made food for somebody in a while..

Emil: If you want to dear, don't feel like you have to.

Athena: I have one of these in my house. This should be a piece of cake!

She decided to make some mac and cheese which Levi and Emil both seemed to enjoy.

Emil: How is your family back at home?

Levi shot him a look. She had told him on the ride there about her parent's accident.

Athena: I don't have any blood relatives at home, but I do have two best friends who are really important to me. They're like my family.

Emil: I've learned over the years that family is whoever is there for you whenever it gets hard, no matter how they are related to you.
Soon, more of the family arrived. Levi excused himself as not to interfere in Athena's family time.

Vince Gray: You're really from the past!?

Athena: Yupp! I'm so excited to meet you! I've been waiting for this day for awhile!

Vince: I wish it wasn't so late, otherwise I'd show you around town and give you the full future treatment!

Athena: I'd love that! Would you take me next time I come visit?

                                  Vince: Of course!
Raheem: You expect me to believe you're from the past?

Athena: Hmm...do you guys have clothes like this now?

Raheem examined her.

Raheem: I guess not, and your  complexion is so similar to mine...but that could all be a coincidence.

 Athena pulled out her cellphone.

                              Raheem: What is that!?

Athena: This is how people communicate in my time.

Raheem: That thing is ancient! You must be from the past.

Lenny Gray: I hope Raheem isn't bothering you.

Athena: No, it's alright. He's quite the character.

Lenny: It's so great to meet you! What is the past like?

Athena: I imagine it's like living in this house, but not once you step outside. We have actual plants, they're not digital. Plus, our cars have wheels!

                             Lenny: Wheels!? No way!

                               Athena: Your hair is gorgeous!

Tamsen: Thank you so much! I wasn't sure! People tease me because I don't have pink hair like the rest of my family but I think it makes me unique.

Athena: Don't let people put you down, you look so pretty. You know what they say? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You don't need any negativity in your life.

Tamsen: This is so great, it's like having an older sister in the house. When you come back, we can go shopping together and get you some new clothes so you don't stick out as much!

Athena: Thank you, I'd love that!

Athena jammed to Tamsen's music. Athena couldn't figure out how it worked, but it sounded nice.

Athena: I hope you don't think this is creepy but I saw your profile online, thats how I found you guys.

Megan: Really!? Wow, I hope you didn't see any embarassing pictures...

 Athena just laughed.

Athena: So how is it living with all these boys?

Megan: Lets just say that if Tamsen wasn't here, I'd go insane.

Athena: Maybe we could have a girls night out when I return.

Megan: I know Tamsen would love it, and so would I.

Levi: You look like you're enjoying yourself.

Athena: I'm having the time of my life, this is great. Everyone is so wonderful.

Levi: I know what would make this night even better.

He yawned and tried to slide his arms over Athena's soldier.

Athena: Hey! What do you think you're doing!?

Levi: Calm down, I'm just joking. You should have seen your face!
                               Athena: You're a jerk!

Levi: We should get going. It's pretty late. I kept my deal of the bargain right?

Athena: Thank you. Emit is going to be mad you know.

Levi: Don't worry about him. I got you covered.

Athena got up off the couch.

Athena: I'm going to say goodbye to everyone.

Athena made her way through the house and said her goodbyes to everyone. Emil was the last to say anything.

Emil: You and your boyfriend come back soon, alright?

Athena blushed and Levi laughed hysterically.

                             Athena: He's not my boyfriend!

 Emil laughed as well.

Emil: Have a good night dear.

1.7 Back to the Future!

Hey everyone! I know the last few chapters have been going kind of slow. They were all fillers, so I could introduce some new characters. I promise the story picks up. This chapter is where things get quite interesting.

Athena was off to a long day of work. It had been a few days, and Athena had completely given up on checking the time portal. She had spent most of her time hanging out with her old best friend Erin, and her new best friend Mason.

The day just seemed to be going her way. Her boss called her aside to tell her some important news. She got promoted! Then, when she arrived home, she got a phone call from Erin, invited her to a house party which Athena was excited to attend.

Erin: Hey! Glad you could make it!

Athena: You know I'd never miss a McGregor party!

Erin: I set up the sleeping bag already, we haven't had a sleep over since we were little! Oh and one other thing, Martin January is kind of coming to the party... (Authors Note: It was a shock to me too, I had no idea they even knew each other, and the events that followed were not planned in any way...)

Athena: Whaa... do you know how awkward this is going to be?

Erin: He kind of cornered me in the grocery store today, asked me about you and then Mason happened to be there and couldn't shut up about you, so....

Athena: Ughh Mason acts like such a child sometimes!

She wasn't mad though, actually she was kind of happy that he wanted to talk about her. I hope he said good things..

A while later, Athena was confronted by Martin January once again. And he presented her with flowers...again.

This time she let him have it though. It was awkward enough trying to avoid him at work, but this was getting out of control. She told Martin how she felt, but she doubted he'd be less persistent.

Mason was at the party as well as her good friend Lars from work. Athena made her way to Mason to tell him about Martin.

Mason: Hey Athena! Hows it going?

Athena: I was great until Martin found me and gave me flowers.

                                          Mason: Ehehehehe sorry about that...

Athena: Its ok, but be more careful next time alright?

Mason: Don't worry, if he comes here at all tonight I'll let him have it!

Athena: Thanks Mase, but I don't think that will be a problem, I already talked to him.

Athena had a great time talking to her friends. Her, Erin, Lars and Mason were having a blast. Martin was in the other room the entire night watching TV with some other sim Athena didn't know. Eventually, it got late and everyone left. Athena and Erin tried to stay up late and gossip, but they were both exhausted and crashed for the night.

The next morning, Athena went out to get the mail when she saw a light coming from the portal. This is just like the first time..!

Out stepped Emit, in all of his time traveling glory.

Athena: Emit! I am so happy to see you!

Emit:  -sigh- Were you honestly waiting for the portal to re-activate?

Athena: Yeah...but, I mean come on, it's the future. If you were from the past you would want to, too! Anyway, what are you doing here? I know you didn't come here because you missed me.

Emit: Well, there seems to be a rift in the time space continuum.

                                Athena: What does that mean?

Emit: Someone is messing with the future, trying to create a dystopian future that is barren of all life.

Athena: What? Who would do that...and why?

Emit: I'd prefer if we didn't talk here, the person also has access to the time portal and can utilize it as good as I can, if not better.

Athena nodded. She was finally going to go back to the future! But, she didn't know why Emit needed her help. I mean, he was pretty quick to toss me out of the future in the first place...

Athena: Yay! I love the future!

Emit: This is Levi. He is going to be helping us with the case.

                                    Levi: Hello.

Athena: What case? You still haven't told me everything....!

Levi: Someone in your world is trying to interfere with the future.

Athena: My world? What do you mean?

Emit: Lunar Lakes is one of many worlds. The population has become desensitized to this possibility because of isolation.

Something on Emit's watch beeped.

Emit: I'm sorry, I am needed somewhere else. Athena, Levi is going to come back to Lunar Lakes with you in order to stop the threat.

Athena: What! I'm not letting this stranger sleep in my house!

Emit: What about the future? It'll be destroyed.

Athena: There's barely enough room in my house for me, plus how am I going to explain his presence to my friends!?

Emit: You're not going to show him to your friends. He is going to stay hidden at all times. You don't have to worry about anything. Levi is a master of his craft. He can sleep on the floor.

Levi: What? Who lets their guest sleep on the floor!?

His protests were ignored.

                                       Athena: ... Fine.....

(Weird Angle so you can see his face)

Athena: Are there really other worlds? That's impossible! Those are just legends!

 Levi snickered.

Levi: You really thought that Lunar Lakes was the only world out there?

Athena: Why are you laughing anyway? Look what you're wearing!

Levi: It's from the 80's actually. Such a primitive culture.

Athena: Alright....I need you to do me a favor since you're staying in my house...I'm going to meet my descendants and you're going to cover for me ok?

Levi: I'm not covering for anyone and I'm not letting you parade around the future having the time of your life, abandoning us in our time of need.

Athena: I'll come back, I promise!!

Levi: I know you will, because I'm coming with you! Its a good way to get to know my roomie!

1.6 A Fun Day at The Park.

The next day, Athena woke up to several texts from Erin. She insisted on meeting up so the two could talk about the party. Athena had to admit, she was embarrassed. She shouldn't have been so upset by Martin's actions, but she couldn't help it. At least, that's what she tried to convince herself of. Anyway, Erin insisted on meeting up at the park, so Athena got dressed and made her way over there.

When she got there, Erin was decked out in her fitness gear. She was probably out for a run, something she always did to clear her head.

Athena: Hey, out for a run I see?

Erin: Yeah, I was trying to avoid my room mate, so I left pretty early this morning.

Athena: What happened?

Erin: Crazy parties, the usual. Speaking of party...how did last night go? Did Martin ask you out!?

Athena: Yupp

Erin: But you don't seem happy, what happened?

So Athena explained everything that happened that night to Erin. She was about to tell her about the strange mystery boy she ran into, until she caught him sitting on the park bench out of the corner of her eyes. He saw her too and ran over.

Mason: Athena! Hey! How are you feeling?

Athena: A lot better,, thank you for asking.

Erin: Are you going to introduce me to your friend or...?

Mason: I'm Mason, Athena and I met last night.

Erin cocked a brow and smirked.

Erin: Oh really now?

Mason: Yeah, at the cemetery last night, we were both visiting loved ones.

Erin shot Athena a look of understanding.

Erin: I'm Erin McGregor. I've never seen you around, are you new here? Are those stories of other worlds true!?

Mason: I've lived here my whole life, just farther down behind the mountains. I used to stay in most of the time to take care of my grandmother, I'd only come down for food but then I started to grow my own, so I really had no reason to come down. But after my grandmother passed away, I got kind of lonely.

Erin: I'm so sorry!

Athena had a shocked expression on her face.

Mason turned towards her.

Mason: Don't worry about it. You either, Erin. I'm really upset about it but I got a chance to socialize with some great people, so I'm happy about that. I wish I came down here sooner.

The three talked like that for a while until Athena had the bright idea to play on the swing sets.
Erin and Mason decided to stay and chat.

At least until Athena came over to tell a scary story. The two were eager to hear it.

Mason: I haven't heard scary stories since I was a child!

Erin: Well sit down and enjoy because Athena tells the best stories! One time, I had to sleep over her house because I was terrified that if I left the house a murderer was going to come and get me!

Athena smiled at the childlike behavior of the two. Yes, they were all adults, young adults, but adults none the less. You couldn't tell from the conversation the three were having now though. Athena was enjoying herself. She didn't mind the strange looks. She hadn't had a day out like this for a while, she was so enraptured with her military job.

Athena began her story about the eight people who were trapped in a mental asylum.

Athena: They were each led there for a specific reason. Each of them needed to be in the building.

Erin: They were trapped against their will!?

Athena: To solve a mystery, the eight sims had to come together.

Athena continued her story, answering both Mason's and Erin's most ridiculous questions.

Mason: Did they make it out alive!?

Athena: They solved the mystery, but no one was alive to tell about it. At least that's how its told.
Mason: So nobody knows what happened to them?

Athena: Nope. It's just a story though so don't worry.

Athena looked at Erin who was equally freaked out.

Erin: Thats your best one yet!

Mason: Thank you for ruining my ride home, what if I run into the evil doctor!?

The three laughed and said their goodbyes to Mason who had to go home. It was getting pretty late, but Athena and Erin always hung out passed 11, even when they were teens (such rebels!)

                                             Erin: What's wrong sweetie?

Athena: Nothing, I've just been thinking about a lot of stuff lately.

Truthfully, she was thinking about the future. It may have been getting old, but she had this undying curiosity about her descendants. Erin was the closest thing she had to family after the accident. The thought of her children's children's children's grandchildren being alive in the future excited her to no end. It meant she had a family....technically.

Erin: That Mason guy is really nice, right?

Athena: Yeah, he was there at the cemetery last night. He saw me bawling my eyes out. It was embarrassing.

Erin: He lost his grandmother, he knows how you feel so he's not going to judge.

Athena wondered why Mason didn't break that information to her last night. Granted, she only just met him but the topic did come up.

Athena: I give him about three days until everyone parades around him.

Erin: He's going to be so popular!  We're finally friends with the popular kid!

Athena shoved her playfully.

Athena: What are you talking about? You were the popular kid!

Erin: Enough of this moping, I know you have a lot on your mind so we're going to the gym!

And that's exactly where the two ended up. They danced for a while and did some cardio. It was a fun night.

Erin: I'm exhausted and sweaty! I'm going to start heading home. You should too.

Athena agreed and the two headed their separate ways.

The first thing Athena did was check the portal. Nothing. She stood on it to see if anything would happen. She heard a humming noise, but realized it was coming from a car passing by.

I'll keep checking until Emit decides to let me back in. He couldn't keep her out forever....right?

1.5 A New Friend?

I apologize in advance for the lack of pictures in this chapter too. Its mainly just dialogue so I figured I didn't need to take a bunch of screenshots. Next time Mason comes in I'll put a close up of him because I didn't realize how dark these pictures really were. Thank you guys for the comments! It means a lot to me!

Start~
Athena sobbed by her mother's grave.

Athena: Why did you have to leave without telling me? If you stayed, this wouldn't be happening right now! I'd be at home with you and dad!

She knew her mother wasn't to be blamed for anything. It was the government of Lunar Lakes. They sent her parents and a few others on an expedition to find more raw materials deeper on the planet. She begged her parents not to leave her alone in the big house. Her mom promised her that they'd be back soon. Months had passed and it turned into years and Athena found out that her parents' bodies were found. They were given a ceremony honoring them and the 8 other sims that ventured out with them. There were no survivors.

Suddenly a voice rang out.

                     Voice: It'll all get better.

                      Athena: Watcher is that you?

Voice: I'm flattered really, but I'm not that good.

The voice came from behind her. She spun around, embarrassed.

Athena: Uhmm, sorry. I didn't know anyone was there.

She studied the figure in front of her. It was a handsome young male. He had black hair that was dyed green in the front. He looked put together, like nothing she had ever seen in Lunar Lakes before. Of course it was dark, but she was sure she'd never seen him around before.

Voice: I'm sorry that I interrupted you. You just looked like you could use a pick-me-up. My name is Mason. Mason Moon.

Athena: Thank you. I'm sorry that you have to see me like this-

He cut her off.

Mason:  Don't apologize for having emotions.

Athena: Right sorry.

Mason: No, don't apologize at all!

Athena: Sorry, I won't.

Athena covered her mouth and Mason hit his head with his palm.

Mason: We can work on that right...uhmm....

He stopped mid sentence and looked at Athena. He was waiting for an answer to a question that Athena was obviously too frazzled to decipher.

Mason: Your name?

Athena: Oh right! My name is Athena Gray.

Mason: Athena, like the goddess of wisdom?

Athena: And in some cases, war.
 Mason laughed.

Mason: Looks like I'm staying clear of you when you're angry.

Athena laughed along with him.

Athena: Hey, I've lived here my whole life and I've never seen you before. Are you new or something?

She was hoping he'd tell her he was from the future.

Mason: No way, you know there aren't any other worlds out there, where could I possibly be coming from?

Athena shrugged.

Athena: So then you're from Lunar Lakes?

Mason: Yes, I live back there behind that mountain. I've been kind of secluded.

Damn it. Definitely not from the future. Good thing I didn't mention it. He would have thought I was crazy.

Athena: Oh, then why come out now?

Mason feigned a shocked expression.

Mason: Are you saying that I shouldn't even have bothered to venture out into the main city?

Athena took a step back and stuttered.

Athena: No! N-ooot at all! I just meant...

Mason: I know! I'm kidding with you. I come out here every couple of nights to visit my parents grave. They're in the mausoleum over there.

                                      Athena: In there?

She shuddered at the thought. The mausoleum always creeped her out.

Mason bursted out laughing.

Mason: Don't tell me you've lived here your entire life and never went in the mausoleum!

 Athena tried to defend herself.

Athena: Its so creepy in there! Sometimes I hear voices coming out of it!

Mason: Its all in your head.

He grabbed her arm and dragged her towards it despite her protests.

Mason: Come on! We have to go in!

                                     Athena: But--!

Against her better judgement, Athena went into the dark, creepy, old building with a man she had met no more that ten minutes ago. She was glad that she did.

Athena: You should have seen your face! It was priceless!

Mason: Maybe there are ghosts in there....

Athena: Mason! I want to thank you, for helping me smile.

Mason: What? It was nothing. I couldn't let a girl in a gown cry her eyes out. Speaking of that, do you always dress up when you come to the cemetery?

Athena opened her mouth to answer but suddenly closed it. There was no way she was inviting Mason to the pity party.

Athena: Its getting late, I should get going.
Mason frowned.
                                     Athena: Thank you again.

She began to walk off.

Mason: I hope we get to see each other again!

Me too.

1.4 Party Time?

I want to apologize ahead of time for the lack of pictures in this chapter. I changed the whole scenario while typing so the pictures didn't really match up. I also don't give the female room mate a name because I don't remember what her name was in the game and I don't plan on having her show up again. Warning: Not all parties are fun and games :/

Athena changed into a gown. Martin insisted that the party was a formal get together even though it was at his house. She arrived pretty quickly, having lived close by. When she rang the bell, Martin answered and ushered her inside. He was pulled aside quickly by another guest.

Guest: There's a problem in the kitchen.

Martin: I have to uh...get that...uh make yourself at home!

Athena just nodded. She looked around his house. It was a pretty simple house, only slightly bigger than hers. Working in the military didn't pay much. She sat down on the couch and began to watch television when the guest began to talk to her.

Guest: You work with Martin right?

                               Athena: Yes, I do.

                               Guest: Athena Gray?

                               Athena: That would be me.

She just snickered in return.

Guest: This seems like some kind of party right? Just us three?

Athena: Uh..I guess? I thought more people were coming.

Guest: Nope, its just us three.

Now that she mentioned it, it was kind of empty in here and the girl didn't seem to be dressed up really. She just sat casually typing away at the computer like it was hers. Then it occurred to Athena.

                               Athena: Do you live here?

She smiled.
Guest: Yes, I do. I'm his new roommate. I can't believe he doesn't talk about me. I mean his wife Lily lives here too but, she's never home.

Athena: Oh, I didn't know Martin was married.

Guest: I mean really? He didn't tell you? He better not be trying anything again.

Athena jumped back. What was she talking about? Again? It was becoming clear to her why he didn't have many friends now. His room mate was basically interrogating her. Besides, who has a female room mate if you're married?

                                Athena: Whats your name?

She just shrugged in return.

                                 Guest: It doesn't matter.

Martin called from the kitchen.

Martin: Food is done, go and get some. I'd like to show Athena something.

He led Athena to another room.

Athena: Whats up? Do you need to show me something for work?

Martin shook his head.
Martin: Not really I have to give you something though. Close your eyes.

Athena: uhm, its your party why are you giving me something?

                               Martin: -sigh- isn't it obvious?

Athena: Flowers? I don't get it...
Athena: They're beautiful but...aren't you married?

Martin was taken aback.

Martin: What...? Who told you that? Was it my room mate? I'm in no way married. At all. Trust me.

Athena: But she sounded pretty sure...

Martin: She is insane. I'm only letting her stay here because I need some extra rent money. I really like you. I've been admiring you from afar for a while. Didn't you get any of my hints?

Athena was about to tell him how confused she was when his room mate called for him.

Martin: Give me just one moment.

Athena: Sure, no problem.

She was relieved. When he left her eyes caught a glimpse of a picture hanging on the wall. It was of Martin and a blonde woman. His arm was snaked around her waist affectionately.

Athena: Are you serious?

What a creep. She didn't even bother calling Martin out on his little bluff. She was embarrassed that she almost believed him. Almost. What if she hadn't seen the picture? Would she have let him in? Would she let herself love someone else? Never again. Athena left the house abruptly and went to the only person who she knew she could tell ANYTHING to, even about the future.

Athena: Mom...I have so much to tell you....and I miss you.

She sobbed quietly.
